All we are is Ogres
The series of images, inspiring from negative feeling and reborn as beauty of art.
At the beginning of April of this year, I dropped the final piece of the NFT series, “All we are is ogres,” a collection of six images in a collection called “Moshui de meili : the Charm of Ink” is a collection of digital art that I intend to imitate the East Asian ink paintings such as Chinese, Korean and Japanese art.
In this series, I was inspired by my deep negative feelings that had hit my mind at those times. Some of these feelings came from the news, and some came from the feelings that remain in my memory and compiled into the concept of the pictures.
The six images in the set include “Arguing” inspired by controversy, “Greed” inspired by avarice, “Insincerity” inspired by slyness, “Power” inspired by the repeating history of tyrant leaders from past to present, “Rancorous” inspired by my feelings whom is a former victim of bullying and exploitation from childhood to adulthood, and “Jealousy” inspired by my self-consciousness and victimization.

As I always introduce myself like this plenty of times, I’m a Digital Artist or Digital illustrator. My work since the start of the sketch has always been on an IPAD or a Tablet as to save paper. Because if I seriously draw on paper, I’m probably wasting tons of sketch paper a year (LOL) …but it’s not that I don’t draw on paper at all ^^” Hehe. (I love paper, which is the most creative innovation of human civilization. LOL.)
In conveying feelings in pictures, I chose to use 3 primary colors — black, white and red — while drawing in Procreate.
During the drawing I did a lot of experiments, both creating a new blush, adjusting effects and settings for each layer. This creates a special color effect that makes the image even more interesting, such as the change in red to turquoise blue.
These experiments make each image look more impactful and it matches my feelings even more. These experiments made the production of each work pleasure for me. It was a feeling of liberation from the darkness that engulfed my mind and at the same time was filled with the joy of creating works of art that I love.
Art helps me a lot when negative feelings start to build up in my mind. When those feelings happen, I feel like my world is ending, I feel like disappearing from this world every moment.
Ever since childhood, these feelings have been bothering my mind and soul until I started to draw with my pencil, to sprinkle my fingers on the keyboard telling a story and to bring myself into the beautiful world of art and imagination.
